ABOUT AFTERLORE

The first seeds of Afterlore came together in the summer of 2023 and first manifested as diagrams on the wall of Jack Kincaid’s office in the Department of Media Study at the University at Buffalo. The series “Captain Afterland” had just finished and the flagship series of Slipgate Nine Entertainment, “Edict Zero – FIS” was still in production.

An immersive cinematic audio production that emulates codes of film and visual composition, Afterlore is the first series in The Next Phase of the Edict Zero story Universe. It has crossover characters from the two previous series, “Captain Afterland” and “Edict Zero – FIS” which serve as origin stories in a shared story universe. These characters include Spoon (reprised by Robert Cudmore), Jimmy Prime (reprised by Chris Barnes), and Afterland (reprised by Jack Kincaid). Other veteran FIS voice actors, Tanja Milojevic and James Keller, join the cast, as well as Kaya Renwick whose voice work entered the EZU in the short standalone “Only Afterland”.

The Afterlore series is designed to function as a stand-alone saga that does not require knowledge of previous series, but listeners not familiar with those series are welcome to explore them. Like other series, Afterlore is a work of science fiction with elements of cyberpunk, fantasy, adventure, among other genres. As a work of art, it is heavily influenced by such movements as postmodernism and surrealism. On a technical level as an intermedial form, it is influenced by many mediums and storytelling forms. Afterlore occupies the spaces where they interconnect and forms map across domains.

Afterlore employs the stereophonic post-production methodology of KAIROS, developed by previous series, and continues many other EZU traditions. Series 1 has 12 features in all that will be released on a weekly basis, every Saturday, from August 15th to Halloween night, 2026.

Afterlore is post-produced by series creator Jack Kincaid. The story is by Jack Kincaid and the cast of Afterlore Series 1 served as additional scriptwriters during the development of the series.

Series 2 of Afterlore is in the first stages of development.
