“Captain Afterland” Trailer

Here is the audio trailer for the new series, Captain Afterland. While it occurs in the Edict Zero story universe, knowledge of the Edict Zero – FIS series will not be required. Captain Afterland is a mixture of science fiction, cyberpunk, adventure, suspense, fantasy, and comedy. Series 1 will be six feature-length episodes, starting with S1E1 – “Stranger Than We Can Apprehend” to be released in mid-February. It will release an episode approximately twice a month.

Captain Afterland features the voice talents of Owen McCuen, Pandora Kew, Jack Kincaid, D.J. Pearlman, Tony Kew, Famous Clark, James Keller, Robert Cudmore, Julie Hoverson, Dayn Leonardson, Austin Beach, Fiona Thraille, Tanja Milojevic, and David Collins-Rivera. It is written and produced by creator Jack Kincaid. Other credits will appear on the Captain Afterland page as episodes are released.

The trailer features “Hurricane Bay” by Krestovsky.

Captain Afterland – S1E3 -“Lebensmüde and Subterfugues in the Key of After”, running at 75 minutes, has been released. The next Afterland feature will happen during the first half of April.

Meanwhile, Edict Zero – FIS remains on hiatus until this summer, at which time, it’s to be hoped, Season 6 will continue to its completion.

Note: The site is being reorganized to act as a hub for future Edict Zero Universe Audio Features by Slipgate Nine Entertainment so organization of the website will be fluid, as time permits.

THE STORY

EDICT ZERO was its original name, a codename assigned to a destination planet and the mission to reach it. New Earth, like Old Earth, is a planet of mostly water, but with even less land. It is a small world of five islands, each island a state in The Federation : the democratic entity otherwise known as 'Edict Two' which governs the bulk of humanity.

Under the broad authority of its Attorney General, the civilian law enforcement utility Edict Three is a cluster of collaborating agencies such as the FIS -- an initialism for Federal Investigative Services. Like other agencies in Edict Three, the structure of the FIS is an amalgam of the Old Earth law enforcement agency models deemed most effective by historians and E-2's founding fathers.

In response to the cataclysmic events on New Year's Day of the year 2415, the FIS assembled a task force at their headquarters in Capitol City to find the responsible party, eliminate the danger posed to the public, and deliver justice for the victims.

In acknowledgement of the severity of the threat and the accordingly devastating consequences which could arise from the slightest oversight, Assistant Director Alan Dockstader authorized a special unit of the task force to pursue unusual leads and the alternate outside-the-box theories those leads may support.

"Edict Zero - FIS" focuses on this small team of special agents and their investigations, which will put them at odds with the highest authority of humankind:

Edict One.

SLIPGATE NINE ENTERTAINMENT is a not-for-profit production endeavor dedicated to the release of free speculative fiction media under Creative Commons Licenses through The Internet Archive. All post-production carried out by Jack Kincaid. This endeavor focuses on the audio drama form, making heavy use of musical layering and sound effects to create a full stereo soundscape of professional technical quality. It incorporates the tracks of voice actors, sound artists, musicians, and other artists, either as direct contributors in its productions or passive contributors through permissions, creative licenses, clear availability of musical multi-tracks for public remix, or the public domain. Rights to voices, sounds, music, stories, characters, settings, and other components of the productions remain with their creators under their individual terms or licenses. The releases themselves--which in some Creative Commons contexts may be considered "remixes" of all its source material--are free products that you can download and distribute/display/air under the terms of their Creative Commons licenses.
